area. the snow level will protesters — angry at the federal government– have seized control of a national wildlife refuge in a rural part of the state. it’s the latest flashpoint for anti- government sentiment. abc’s megan hughes has the details on this story developing now. armed militia members man a guard tower usually used to spot wildfires. this wildlife refuge in harney county oregon-has been taken over and become a symbol. bundy: “it i the people’s facility. owned by the people. we are here are based upon the constitution of the united states.” ammon bundy say they’ve come with generators and other supplies — potentially preparing for siege-like conditions. local law enforcement urged people to stay away the fbi has now taken over-and tensions are running high. sot jordan: “it’s sor of frightening when there are people making threats and people toting guns.” sot mccannon: “people a afraid.” ammo bundy militia leader “it is the duty of the people to put that government back in its place.” bundy, alon with his father, nevada rancher cliven bundy were involved in a standoff with the government over grazing rights two years ago. nats from april 5, 2014 – confrontation with law enforcement this latest incident, now occupation.. started with a protest over the sentencing of two local ranchers for setting fires on federal land steve and dwight hammond went to jail for you in five years.” verbatim: president barack obama launches a final-year push on gun control this week. today , the president will meet with attorney general loretta lynch to discuss options for tougher gun restrictions. in the coming days, he is expected to announce a new executive action with the goal of expanding background checks on gun sales. on thursday, mr. obama will join c-n-n’s anderson cooper for a one-hour, live town hall event on the issue. the expected executive actions come ahead of obama’s annual state of the union address, which is set for january 12-th. the site of the san bernardino shooting rampage that left 14 people dead and 21 injured, is set to reopen today. there will be tighter security as the inland regional center’s 6-hundred employees return to work. the center has been closed since december 2nd when killers syed rizwan farook and his wife tashfeen malik started their shooting rampage. both were killed later in a shootout with police. farook was an inspector for san bernardino county’s department of public health. he worked with many of the victims who were at the center for a training session and holiday party. the newly-elected mayor of a town near mexico city has been gunned down — just one day after taking office. gisela mota ocampo was shot and killed in the doorway of her home on saturday. police killed two of the attackers. three others were arrested. mota ocampo was sworn in friday to lead the city of temixco. the mayor had pledged to tackle drug crime. more details are coming out about the group of friends killed in a rollover over the weekend. it happened saturday night on the 2700 block of jobe road, a private road, in far east el paso. the sheriff’s office says 66 year old johnny borrego and 59 year old ivan gurrero died at the scene. 58 year old ruben betancourt ramirez died at the hospital 57 year old humberto muela is in stable condition and 71 year old jose gabino garcia is in critical condition instead of curving left with the road… the truck allegedly kept going straight that’s when it drove up on an embankment. also at the scene, parts of the truck, including its headlight. this isn’t the first time we’ve seen death on this very road. in may 2014, a woman died after her sports car rolled over. police are calling the death of a man in an apartment fire suspicious… the fire happened on the 18-hundred block of kentucky street saturday afternoon. while battling the fire and searching for residents, fire crews found a man in his 50’s. he was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries and later died. officials have not yet identified the man. damage from the fire is estimated at 7 – thousand dollars. now it’s time to take a look at the tx-dot traffic cams… happening today … construction on the future trolley route! the nearly 5-mile route will run in two loops, with 27 stops. the first closures will be a few blocks on stanton, kansas and father rahm, near downtown and in downtown — and could last up to six weeks. the camino real regional mobility authority – is handling the construction and the refurbishing of the old streetcars. it also hired a
