Ex-Cathedral baseball coach accused of having cocaine expected at pre-trial hearing

A former high school baseball coach accused of having cocaine is expected in court for a pretrial hearing today.

El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Michael Beltran, a former Cathedral High School baseball coach, on suspicion of possession of cocaine in December of 2012. During the same week DEA agents arrested two other borderland educators: Raul Gomez and Joe Paul Solis. They were allegedly buying cocaine from a home that was under surveillance

Beltran’s hearing is at 1:30 p.m. this Tuesday at the El Paso County Courthouse. His trial is scheduled to begin next week.

Beltran resigned from Cathedral shortly after his arrest.
