Seminar to provide information on new gun laws

across the state and country… but there are still a lot of questions about how certain aspects of the law could impact you. abc-7’s andrew j. polk reports. :13 :35 1:20 new year, new sights, new signs.. and new questions about gun rights in texas. that’s why vicente daniel, a local concealed handgun license instructor organized a gun law seminar open to the public. “well, we’r attempting to go up to as many as 500 or more. we’ll be happy with as many as five or as many as five hundred, but we just want to have it open for the community to come out and ask as many questions as they possibly can.” the seminar thursday evening at the county coliseum will bring together gun law experts, local law enforcement, and attorneys from texas law shield… a program which offers legal coverage for gun owners. “we hear people sometimes describe it as insurance, but technically that’s slightly incorrect. it’s prepaid legal services, because we really are only talking about your attorney’s fees for criminal and civil trials.” while it may be your right to carry a handgun in texas if properly liscensed… experts say actually having to use it defensively could cost tens of thousands in legal fees and more. “there’s this group of men in texas who sat down and said it’s not fair that someone should have to lose their home, file for bankruptcy, be completely destitute because they had to shoot someone who attacked them.” “knowing that they’re getting the right information is what is important to me. because if i’m going to have people out there next to me shooting or carrying guns, the more legitimate law knowledge, the more legitimate information they know that’s correct, the safer i’m going to feel.” andre j. polk, abc-7. for more information about the seminar and the groups involved, you can click on this story on k-v-i-a dot com. the war of words continues in dona ana county. today, the sheriff’s office says it’s being blocked by the county manager from properly equipping new patrol units. from our new mexico mobile newsroom
