California Lottery reports winning ticket sold in record $1.5 Billion Powerball jackpot

Tonight’s winning numbers for the record $1.5 billion Powerball jackpot are: 4 – 8 – 19 – 27 – 34 – and the Powerball: 10.

California lottery officials tweeted almost immediately after the drawing a winning ticket was sold in the state, although it is still not clear if other winning tickets were sold.

The state also tweeted that it sold 12 tickets that matched five of the six numbers.

Tracey Cohen, the interim executive director of the D.C. Lottery, told ABC News winners should expect to keep only about a third of the advertised jackpot or cash payout.

The rest of the money is generally taken by federal, state and city taxes based on where the ticket was purchased and where the winner lives.

This is the largest jackpot of any lottery game on record in the world.

Tonight’s jackpot started at $40 million on Nov. 7, 2015, and was the result of 20 drawings with no jackpot winner.
