City to install “The Cloud” sculpture Thursday morning at Spur 1966 roundabout

El Paso residents will be able to experience art at the Spur 1966 roundabout by the end of this week.

The City of El Paso will install its newest sculpture, “The Cloud”, at 11 a.m. Thursday at Schuster and Spur 1966 near the UTEP campus

“The Cloud” is an wind art piece composed of thousands of steel flaps that move with the breeze.

The artist, Donald Lipski of New York, coined its name after he said he was inspired by the city of Bhutan, which is also known as the Kingdom of the Clouds, and by El Paso’s “amazing cloud formations.”

“The Cloud” is part of the City of El Paso’s Public Art Program.

The city will close parts of Schuster during the installation and will detour eastbound traffic to Glory Road.
