UPDATE: Officer cited after crashing cruiser into school bus

An officer slammed his cruiser into a school bus Wednesday in Northeast El Paso.

It happened about 7:45 a.m. in front on Schuster Elementary School on the 5000 block of Will Ruth Avenue.

There were no children in the bus and the officer was not injured, police said.

Officer Kevin Mckinney, a seven-year veterean of the force, was ticketed for cited for
driver inattention. An administrative investigation is being conducted.

A spokesman for the El Paso Independent School District said the loss of the bus due to the crash will not impact bus service adding that the district has a lot of buses.
