Papal telecast tickets to be available nationwide Feb. 1
Tickets to see the “Two Nations, One Faith” event at the Sun Bowl are about to be released February 1 to the nation, and that’s why the Catholic Diocese of El Paso wants locals to buy group tickets now.
Diocese spokewoman Liz O’ Hara said, “We’ve seen a steady flow of people buying tickets. We’re encouraging parishes and priests to buy blocks of tickets for their parishioners. The sun bowl has been diligently working with us so groups wanting to sit together can sit together.”
UTEP will be closed February 17 while the Pope visits Juarez. UTEP says the event at the Sun Bowl will add too much traffic to the campus and could jeopardize the safety of staff and students. The diocese is expecting a packed house, and that’s why it is urging patrons to buy the group tickets as soon as possible.
O’Hara said many people calling the diocese are from outside the region, and the diocese would really like for the local people to have those seats instead.
To help offset costs related to this special event, ticket prices will be $15 plus a $3 university service fee, and other applicable service fees, which may increase total cost.
For all local El Paso individuals and parish ticket orders, please visit the University Ticket Center or call (915) 747-5234 for ticket purchases and inquiries. For all out of El Paso area individuals or groups, please visit Ticketmaster for ticket purchases or inquiries.
There is a $3 university service fee to purchase tickets through the University Ticket Center.
The fees associated with ticket purchases through Ticketmaster will vary. The diocese strongly encourages all El Paso residents to purchase their tickets through the University Ticket Center.
Purchaser must pick up in-person or via will call and present valid ID and method of payment.
The “Two Nations, One Faith – Papal Telecast” will be February 17, 2016 at 12 noon at the Sun Bowl Stadium.
Sun Metro buses will operate and drop off at Randolph Drive and Robertson Avenue.
UTEP Sun Bowl-designated public parking lots will open at 6 a.m. with spaces available on a first-come, first-served basis and are not guaranteed by event ticketing.
No overnight parking allowed; ticketing will be strictly enforced.
ADA-accessible parking will be designated but also available on a first-come, first-served basis.
