Santa Teresa High School students in the running for national app competition

There’s nothing like the feeling of coming in first place and the Santa Teresa High School engineering club did just that winning the top spot in New Mexico — for the Verizon App Challenge. That is why they are this week’s Community Champions sponsored by Southwest University.

The school’s Technology Student Association won 5-thousand dollars and several tablets for designing an app that helps people with PTSD. The group now moves on to the national competition and if they win — students at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology will help them code their app.

The purpose of the app is to connect people suffering from PTSD with each other and keep them busy with cognitive games.

If you want to show your support– you can help them win by voting for their app. To vote you’ll need to text PTSDAid1 to the number on your screen 22333.

The contest runs until this Saturday– and anyone can vote.
