Ascarate Lake faces algae problem; hundreds of fish dead
Workers at Ascarate Lake were busy picking up dead fish Sunday morning after hundreds of them were found floating in the lake.
Viewers called the ABC-7 newsroom about the fish and told us the lake smelled very badly.
The fish are dying as a result of an algae problem in the lake. Workers estimate they’ve already picked up around 500 dead fish in the past week.
No fishing is allowed at the lake until the problem is fixed.
