EPPD: Suspect linked to five aggravated robberies
Police detectives in West El Paso arrested and charged a man in connection with a string of five aggravated robberies dating back to December 2016.
A complaint affidavit obtained by ABC-7 states James Sheehan, 56, allegedly entered the Supreme Laundry located at 6990 Westwind wearing a mask and gloves on February 22, 2017. Sheehan allegedly demanded money from the store’s sales clerk, who police say feared for her life and filled a bag with $50.
When police arrived, the woman told officers she recognized the alleged robber as the man who had previously robbed the store a few days before. A detective investigating the string of robberies was able to obtain surveillance footage of the suspect entering a green Dodge Ram.
Police said Sheehan robbed the same Supreme Laundry cleaners three times over the span of three months.
On February 23, 2017, two police officers working in plain clothes and in an unmarked unit, spotted the suspect’s green Dodge Ram on the 900 block of Belvidere. The driver met the description of the alleged robber and the officers pursued the pickup.
The driver eventually stopped at 690 El Parque, exited the pickup, and walked north towards Belvidere. The officers approached the man and noticed the he was wearing clothing identical to that seen on the suspect in the surveillance footage.
When the officers asked Sheehan to identify himself, he told them he did not have identification. The officers eventually learned Sheehan had an outstanding criminal warrant and took him into custody.
Under interrogation, Sheehan allegedly admitted he was responsible for the robberies. He was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
