Serious crash shuts down I-10 near Horizon

A serious crash shut down I-10 near Horizon Monday morning.

A Texas Department of Public Safety official said it involved an 18-wheeler and a white Mustang.

The white Mustang stopped in the middle of I-10 on a westbound lane for an unknown reason.

The 18-wheeler, also going west, tried to avoid the white Mustang but ended up rear-ending it.

Part of the 18-wheeler ended up on the eastbound lanes.

The crash was reported just before 6 a.m., and less than a mile before the Horizon exit.

Both sides of the freeway were completely shut down for hours, but are now open.

DPS said one woman, driver of the Mustang, was taken to Del Sol Medical Center with critical injuries, but is now in stable condition.

The 18-wheeler driver suffered minor injuries.
