NMSU Aggies clinch WAC title and are headed to NCAA Tournament

The NMSU Aggies trailed by as many as 13 points in the first half to CSU Bakersfield, but turned it around in the final 20 minutes as Ian Baker exploded for 15 points to lead NMSU in a dramatic 70-60 comeback win.

Eli Chuha added 16 points and 11 rebounds to help outscore the Roadrunners 50 to 31 in the second half for the victory.

Aggie head coach Paul Weir joins Coach Henson as the only first-year head coach in program history to reach the NCAA Tournament with this win. The Aggies also earned their most victories in program history with the win, and a WAC Title to go along with it doesn’t hurt.

NMSU’s seed in the NCAA Tournament will be decided on Sunday, but it seems likely they will earn the 14th seed.
