LCPD: Woman accused of assaulting ex-girlfriend
A Las Cruces woman is suspected of beating and choking her former girlfriend, police officials said.
Innocence Aaliyah Gamboa, 19, is charged with one count of “Aggravated Battery Against a Household Member.”
Police were dispatched to investigate a domestic disturbance at an apartment at 320 E. Union Avenue shortly after 3:30 pm Thursday March 23, 2017.
Officers were told Gamboa went to the apartment of her ex-girlfriend and became jealous when she saw two other women with the victim.
Police said Gamboa and her 19-year-old ex-girlfriend went into a bedroom where an argument escalated into a physical confrontation.
A witness told investigators Gamboa and the victim emerged from the bedroom and continued fighting in the living room.
Gamboa allegedly placed her arms around the victim’s neck and began to choke her, police said. A witness broke up the fight and Gamboa left the apartment, police said.
Police located Gamboa a short distance away at a nearby convenience store. Officers arrested the woman and booked her into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with bond set at $10,000.
