Sheriff’s Office investigating electrocution in Canutillo

Deputies with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and the County Medical Examiner are investigating an electrocution on the 200 block of Los Mochis in Canutillo.

A spokeswoman with the sheriff’s office told ABC-7 deputies were called to investigate an industrial accident. When deputies arrived, they found a 36-year-old man dead from an apparent electrocution.

In a statement, El Paso Electric told ABC-7 the incident did not involve its equipment or infrastructure.

The incident was first reported shortly after 2 pm. The County Fire Marshal and El Paso Electric units were at the scene, but left at about 4:30 pm.

ABC-7 has learned the sheriff’s office’s Criminal Investigation Major Crime Unit and Crime Scene Investigation Unit are taking over the investigation.
