City Council denies El Paso Electric rate increase

EL PASO, Texas -- In a unanimous vote El Paso City Council denied El Paso Electric's proposed rate increase.

El Paso Electric proposed an increase of about $11.76 a month for the average residential customer.

It took more than four hours at a public hearing for City Council to make their decision.

City Council member Peter Svarzbein said in the meeting it was an unreasonable rate increase.
