Ski Apache sees first snowfall of the season

RUIDOSO, New Mexico -- Ski Apache Ski Resort saw its first snow fall of the season Monday morning.

The area has had trouble with snow coming down the last few years, making it difficult to build up snow for skiing on the mountain.

Director of Operations Ken Marlatt said “Right over here is all natural snow from Mother Nature over night, we got about half an inch.  Over here to my right is our snow pile that we are accumulating from our snow factory."

Service industry workers in the Ruidoso area also appreciate the new snow according to Carlos Guilez who works as cook at Quarters, a bar in grill.

“Oh the snow is a need!  Must be!  Has to happen all the time no matter what we love the snow,” Guilez added.
