Clarification: Brazil-Bolsonaro-Legal-Threats story

SAO PAULO (AP) — In a story published Nov. 21, 2024, The Associated Press reported that Federal Police indicted Brazil’s former President Jair Bolsonaro and allies for attempting a coup. In Brazil, an indictment is the step in which authorities present their accusations and recommend charges, and comes before the formal filing of charges by prosecutors. This story changes the word used from “indicted” to “formally accused,” including with regard to prior cases, in order to prevent confusion.
