Man sought for allegedly disposing of puppies at garbage dumpster in Socorro

El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies issued a public call for help Monday to identify a man who disposed of a box of puppies at a trash dumpster in Socorro. Deputies released an image of the man from surveillance video.

Detectives said surveillance video also shows the man removing a box containing six puppies from a dark-colored Hyundai on Sept. 2 and putting it next to the dumpster in the 690 block of Horizon Blvd.

Investigators believe the man lives in the area where the puppies were abandoned and said he could face animal cruelty charges.

Authorities said the puppies were later found and taken to El Paso Animal Services for care.

The Sheriff’s Office asked that if you know the man’s identity to contact detectives at the Montana Patrol Station at 915-856-4875 or by calling Sheriff’s Office Communications at 915-832-4408.

Meanwhile, within hours Monday of the Sheriff’s Office announcement of this case of abandoned puppies, authorities said three more puppies were found abandoned at another dumpster in the Socorro area.
