LAS CRUCES, New Mexico -- New Mexico State University is expanding its spring break by an additional week in an effort to reduce the potential spread of coronavirus.

The university issued the following statement on Friday morning following a meeting at the chancellor's office:

"New Mexico State University is implementing a system-wide, two-week spring break for students, beginning Monday, March 16. While coursework will not be held during these two weeks, it’s important to note that the university will remain open. On-campus housing will remain open."
