YISD grant supporting military-connected students

MGN

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- If you grew up in a military family, you know that many of the challenges you faced were different than those of your civilian friends.

Military-connected students face unique circumstances like frequent moving and parent deployment.

The $30,000 dollar Grant will provide those students with the support they need. The funds are being used at six campuses, and four elementary schools in the district. The schools were chosen based on the number of military-connected students enrolled and their proximity to Fort Bliss.

Students will participate in activities that encourage, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. In hopes to increase resilience and reduce stress in the students.
