CBP to resume rail operations in El Paso, Eagle Pass
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Customs and Border Protection (CBP) have announced they will resume rail operations in El Paso and Eagle Pass after being suspended on Monday, Dec. 18.
"We continue to assess security situations, adjust our operational plans, and deploy resources to maximize enforcement efforts against those noncitizens who do not use lawful pathways or processes such as CBP Oneâ„¢ and those without a legal basis to remain in the United States," said CBP in a statement.
The decision to previously suspend operations had come from a necessity to redirect personnel to other areas to help USBP with migrant intake and processing.
Despite resuming operations, CBP says vehicular processing will still remain suspended at Eagle Pass International Bridge 1 as part of operational adjustments.
