Injured Doña Ana County Sheriff’s deputy in stable condition, doing ‘remarkably well’
LAS CRUCES, New Mexico -- After a deputy was rushed to the hospital following a rollover vehicle crash Saturday night, the Doña Ana County Sheriff's Office said Sunday that he was in stable condition and recovering in an El Paso hospital.
Deputy Christopher Patton, 31, is doing "remarkably well," said Doña Ana County Sheriff Kim Stewart in a written statement to the public.
According to the sheriff's office, Patton was responding to another deputy's call for assistance when his 2011 Crown Victoria left the roadway and rolled over near El Camino Real and Doña Ana School roads, just north of Las Cruces.
Patton was initially rushed to a Las Cruces hospital, before he was taken to University Medical Center in El Paso for head trauma, according to authorities.
Patton was in stable condition early Sunday, according to the sheriff's office, which continues to investigate the details of the crash.
