Cause probed of Alamogordo mobile home blaze that killed child, severely injured man

ALAMOGORDO, New Mexico -- Authorities on Tuesday were investigating the cause of a mobile home fire that killed a child and severely injured a man.

Alamogordo firefighters who battled that deadly blaze at 1102 Mescalero Street said they found the mobile home "fully engulfed in flames" when they arrived.

The injured man was flown to University Medical Center in El Paso; there was no further word on his condition.

Fire officials said the didn't discovered the child who died until after the blaze was out and they searched the remnants of the mobile home.

While the New Mexico State Fire Marshal’s office was still trying to determine what ignited the blaze, investigators said "at this time the fire is not suspicious in nature."
