NYC Mayor accuses Texas Governor of targeting ‘Black-run’ with migrant busing plan

The Mayor of New York City, Eric Adams, learned that Texas Governor Gregg Abbott would resume busing migrants in his state to five of the nation’s largest cities. Abbott is sending migrants who have crossed into Texas from Mexico to New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Denver and Washington, D.C.

Forced to cope with a flood of asylum seekers, and with city services stretched to the max, Mayor Adams accused Abbott of using those coming to America as political pawns and says the governor is playing racial politics.

“Not only is this behavior morally bankrupt and devoid of any concern for the well-being of asylum seekers, but it is also impossible to ignore the fact that Abbott is now targeting five cities run by Black mayors,” Adams said. “Put plainly, Abbott is using this crisis to hurt Black-run cities.”

Adams said the migrants were forced to go to New York against their will.

A spokesman for Abbott said the asylum seekers went willingly, saying they signed consent agreements.

The spokesman also said instead of spreading falsehoods and complaining, Adams should call on President Biden to take immediate action to secure the border.
