“May the 4th Be With You” Celebration at Pavo Real Recreation Center
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Today the Pavo Real Recreation Center is re-opening with a “May The 4th Be With You” celebration. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held for the rec center improvements.
It will start at 5:30 pm at 9301 Alameda Ave.
The Pavo Real Rec Center underwent $1.9 million in upgrades for the public.
The project consisted of significant roofing, mechanical and electrical improvements, the replacement of HVAC equipment and piping, updated lighting, new flooring materials, and new drinking fountains.
As part of the project, the Museums and Cultural Affairs Department’s Public Art Program commissioned a local artist to create a public art piece featuring a mosaic tile floor at the center's entrance. The improvements are part of the voter-approved 2012 quality of life bond program.
