Long line of migrants seen turning themselves into officials in El Paso
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- ABC-7 crews saw a long line of migrants turning themselves in Segundo Barrio Tuesday.
Dozens of migrants lined up outside the CBP station at the Paso Del Norte bridge Tuesday morning. CBP announced Monday that they would take part in a multi-agency enforcement operation starting May 9.
The flyers started circulating in Segundo Barrio early Tuesday morning, asking those who had entered the country illegally to present themselves to authorities at a location on Oregon Street.
"Beginning May 9, U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents and officers – along with law enforcement partners from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement – will conduct a targeted enforcement operation in El Paso, Texas," the federal government stated. "Immigration enforcement agents will process individuals for vetting and placement into Title 42 expulsion or Title 8 removal proceedings, as applicable. Noncitizens who pose a threat to national security or public safety will be transferred to ICE for detention."
This is all happening ahead of the expected lifting of Title 42 on May 11.
