Woman wanted for murdering her husband in 2018 found in Northeast El Paso

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- El Paso Sheriff's deputies took 40-year-old Lilian Pinales into custody Monday on a murder charge. She is accused of murdering her husband in October of 2018.

The alleged murder happened at 4739 Sierra Vista Road in the Northeast. That's less than a mile from where Pinales was arrested on the 9300 block of Hollings Street.

Police say Pinales got into an argument with her husband, Juan Manuel Garcia, 51, and shot him. Garcia was transported to University Medical Center, where he later died.

Investigators charged Pinales with murder on October 16, 2018 and booked her into the El Paso jail annex. She was released on a $20,000 personal recognizance bond October 25, 2019. She was charged with an additional count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a family member at the same time.

A spokesperson says the Fugitive Apprehension Unit got a felony arrest warrant for Pinales, then picked her up at her home in Northeast El Paso May 22, 2023.

Deputies book Pinales into the El Paso County Detention Facility on the murder charges. Officials are holding her without bond.
