Missing Russian passenger plane makes emergency landing in Siberia

Andrew Cuomo

MOSCOW (AP) — Emergency officials say a small Russian passenger plane has made an emergency landing in Siberia after an engine failure. None of the 18 passengers and crew members suffered serious injuries. The An-28 plane went missing Friday in the Tomsk region in western Siberia. Rescue helicopters quickly found it lying in a field. Emergency officials say helicopters are taking the passengers and crew to the city of Tomsk. Russian news reports say the crew made an emergency landing after one of the plane’s two engines failed. Another Russian plane crashed 10 days ago while preparing to land in bad weather in Russia’s Far East, killing all 28 people on board.
