Timeline of the Menendez brothers’ murder case

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Prosecutors in Los Angeles say they will ask a court to resentence Lyle and Erik Menendez for the 1989 murders of their parents. Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón has said there’s no doubt the brothers killed their parents in Beverly Hills, but on Thursday he said he believes they have paid their debt. His decision could set the brothers up to be freed. The pair admitted to the murders, but have argued that they committed them in self-defense after years of abuse by their father.
