(CNN) — It has been dubbed the “heist of the century” – the theft in broad daylight of Napoleonic-era artefacts from the renowned Louvre Museum in Paris.

French President Emmanuel Macron called the robbery “an attack on a heritage we cherish,” and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice

Investigators are in a race against time to track down four suspects and recover the treasures, known as France’s crown jewels, amid fears they may be lost forever.
