UTEP drops 3rd straight, falls 59-56 to FAU
BOCA RATON, Florida - With Head Coach Rodney Terry watching from the locker room, the UTEP Miners collapsed down the stretch and fell 59-56 on the road at Florida Atlantic.
UTEP led 53-46 with just over three minutes to play, but the Miners were held without a field goal the rest of the way and the Owls came back for the win.
Terry, who was released from the hospital Friday after being admitted for anaphylactic shock stemming from an allergic reaction, did not coach in the game and watched from the locker room, per the UTEP radio broadcast.
In Terry's place, Assistant Kenton Paulino served as interim coach. Terry was present at UTEP's pregame practice Saturday morning.
Turnovers continued to plague the Miners, as they gave the ball away 19 times to the Owls. They also shot 19% from three.
The loss was UTEP's 18th straight on the road, continuing a drought of road losses that dates back to March of 2018.
UTEP has now lost five of their last six games, as the Miners fall to 9-6 on the season, and drop to 0-2 in Conference USA play.
