Oakland Athletics won’t play series finale against Texas Rangers in show of support for racial justice movement

MGN

ARLINGTON, Texas — The Oakland Athletics have decided not to play their series finale at Texas in support of racial justice.

Oakland’s decision comes a day after three Major League Baseball games were postponed in response to the police shooting of a Black man in Wisconsin last weekend.

The Rangers say they respect the decision by the A’s and stand with all who condemn racial injustice.

Oakland players had talked about not playing Wednesday night, but felt those discussions were rushed.

They were united in playing then and talking about it as a group after that game.
