El Paso police officer hurt after crashing motorcycle while trying to catch speeder on Loop 375

EL PASO, Texas -- An El Paso police officer crashed his police motorcycle while trying to catch up to a speeder and was seriously injured Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The crash at Loop 375 and Padres was reported by police about 10:30 a.m.

An officer running radar was attempting to stop a speeding vehicle when that officer struck debris on roadway and crashed the motorcycle, a police spokesperson said.

That officer was taken to the hospital with what was described as serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
