El Paso police officer hurt after crashing motorcycle while trying to catch speeder on Loop 375

EL PASO, Texas -- An El Paso police officer crashed his police motorcycle while trying to catch up to a speeder and was seriously injured Tuesday morning, authorities said.

The crash at Loop 375 and Padres was reported by police about 10:30 a.m.

An officer running radar was attempting to stop a speeding vehicle when that officer struck debris on roadway and crashed the motorcycle, a police spokesperson said.

That officer was taken to the hospital with what was described as serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

  1. That’s nothing compared to the total amount of crashed old EPPD Crown Victoria Police Interceptors stored over the years at the city impound lot on Railroad Drive. BTW – The Ford Taurus makes for a terrible handling police car.

  2. I pray the police officer recovers. I also hope the “speeder” gets caught. Besides speeding, he probably has no driver’s license, no insurance, outstanding warrants.
