Northeast El Paso woman killed when car collides with semi-truck on U.S. 54
UPDATE #2: Police on Thursday afternoon released the identity of the car driver killed the prior night in a collision with a semi-truck at the intersection of U.S. 54 and Stateline Road.
Authorities said the deceased victim was 66-year-old Teresa Briseno, a northeast El Paso resident.
UPDATE: El Paso police confirmed early Thursday that the driver of a car was killed after colliding with a semi-truck pulling two trailers at 14000 Gateway North (US 54) and Stateline Road.
The death acknowledgment from the Wednesday night crash came as police reopened the roadway in northeast El Paso around 3 a.m. Thursday.
Investigators said the crash occurred when the car failed to yield to the semi-truck; one of the truck's two trailers overturned on the road as a result of the collision.
While the car driver died in the wreckage, police said the truck driver wasn't injured; the drivers were the only people in either vehicle.
The identity of the fatality victim wasn't released by authorities.
ORIGINAL REPORT: EL PASO, Texas — A rollover crash involving a semi-truck and another vehicle in northeast El Paso on Wednesday night resulted in serious injuries, according to authorities.
Police summoned traffic investigators to the 7:45 p.m. to the crash scene at Gateway North Boulevard (U.S. 54) and Edge of Texas Street near the New Mexico state line.
No further details were immediately available, but authorities urged motorists to avoid the area and continued diverting traffic late into the night.
