Northeast El Paso man who crashed pickup into tree has now died from his injuries
UPDATE, Dec. 1: The northeast El Paso man who crashed his pickup truck into a tree in front of an IHOP restaurant last month has now died from his injuries.
Police said they were notified Wednesday that Carlos Aceves, 53, died at University Medical Center.
His death marked the 63rd traffic fatality of the year in El Paso, compared to 65 at this same time a year ago.
UPDATE, Nov. 23: El Paso police on Tuesday identified a man who suffered life-threatening injuries after his pickup truck crashed into a tree along Hondo Pass.
Carlos Aceves, 53, of northeast El Paso remained hospitalized Tuesday in critical condition at University Medical Center following Monday afternoon's crash.
Investigators are trying to determine whether Aceves suffered some type of medical emergency that caused him to lose control of his pickup and veer off the road and into the tree in front of a restaurant.
ORIGINAL REPORT, Nov. 22: EL PASO, Texas — A traffic crash in the 4500 block of Hondo Pass on Monday afternoon resulted in serious injuries, according to El Paso police.
Traffic Investigators were summoned to the scene just after 2 p.m. to determine what led up to the crash.
Police said it was a single-vehicle crash, but didn’t indicate whether it was one or more people who were injured.
The crash site was in some bushes in front of an IHOP restaurant.
No further details were immediately available.
