ABC-7 StormTRACK Weather: Cold front moves in tonight, winds will increase

Happy Saturday all! I hope your day has been great as you watch college football or enjoy the weather outside. Today was fairly warm, with a high of 95 in El Paso and 92 in Las Cruces. If you are looking for changes in the weather, there is definitely both good news and bad news in my forecast.

We will start with the good news. A cold front is headed down our way as we speak. It's coming from the east and will push over the Franklin Mountains later on tonight. Cold fronts are named that way due to the colder air they bring- so tomorrow's highs are going to be in the upper 80s...which is not so bad!

The bad news is that the front will increase our winds, especially for those of us who live on the west sides or slopes of our local mountains. That means it will likely get noisy tonight as wind gusts pick up to 30-35 mph for west siders. Overall, winds will be around 15-20 mph for everyone else tonight. By tomorrow afternoon, the winds should weaken.

As for rain, we certainly could see a few pop-up showers tonight and tomorrow, but overall rain chances are mostly low. By Tuesday though, moisture from what used to be Hurricane Kay will enter our region leading to many quick-moving storms and showers across the entire region. That will be the best chance of rain for the week ahead. Stay safe everyone!
