Gov. Abbott highlights economic strength in El Paso
EL PASO, Texas -- Texas Governor Greg Abbott visited El Paso Thursday to highlight economic strength in the area.
The governor announced 12 new projects that he is working on for the region during the roundtable discussion at WestStar Bank on N. Mesa Street.
These projects include a new Schnieders Electric Facility that will bring 400 jobs to El Paso, and a Marshalls Distribution Warehouse that will add 1,100 jobs to the area.
"Both of those new facilities will provide jobs that just would help people in this region earn a pay check, earn a livelihood, help them be able to buy a home or buy a new car, provide more for their family. Bottom line is jobs that will help the El Paso area,' said Governor Abbott.
The governor also said that El Paso is a critical part of the state's energy sector, being home to Marathon Refinery, which continues to boost economic growth in the area.
Governor Abbott was joined by the Borderplex Alliance CEO Jon Barela and other local business leaders.
Democratic opponent Beto O'Rourke held a Townhall in Lockhart, Texas Thursday.
