El Paso veteran has home burglarized, military possessions stolen

EL PASO, Texas -- A U.S. Navy veteran, who served eight years, is living in fear after her home was broken into on Thanksgiving day.

"My peace of mind was stolen, I have no idea how to start to get back to that," said Margarita Sanchez.

Sanchez said she is new to El Paso and headed to Deming to spend Thanksgiving with her family. When she got back home, Sanchez said she realized somebody else had been in her home.

Her TV, clothes and several of her electronics were stolen. Also gone, were some of her most prized military possessions.

"Those will never be replaced, and I think those, those are probably what means the most to me, more than my 65" TV," Sanchez said with tears in her eyes. "Just give me back my military stuff and my collectables. I don't care."

Remnants of black powder stain the window seal, the spot police think the thieves broke in, according to Sanchez. That black powder also stained the carpet and a closet door, all paces police searched for fingerprints.

"Your home is your safe zone, now that it's been taken, I don't have a safe zone really anymore," said Sanchez.
