13th U.S. case of coronavirus confirmed in San Diego
SAN DIEGO, California -- A Centers for Disease Control spokesman confirmed to ABC News on Monday night that a person in San Diego County has tested positive for coronavirus.
The CDC said that person had arrived from Wuhan, China on the first flight to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego last week.
This is the 13th confirmed case of coronavirus in the U.S.
The CDC official said the individual is an adult. It’s unclear whether the patient is a man or a woman at this time.
The patient is said to be in good condition and is being treated in isolation at UC San Diego Medical Center.
The first flight carrying 167 people from China landed at Miramar last Wednesday. A second plane carrying an unknown number of people arrived at the base later in the week.
According to the CDC, all those aboard the flights were quarantined for a mandatory 14-day hold.
Word of the latest American case of the virus comes as the death toll in China topped an ominous 1,000 on Monday with health officials struggling to contain the epidemic.
