Suspected coronavirus case reported at private hospital in Juarez
CIUDAD JUAREZ, Mexico -- Health officials in Mexico are investigating a possible case of coronavirus in Juarez after young man returned from a trip to Italy, according to Dr. Arturo Valenzuela, medical director of the Chihuahuan Health Department in the Northern Region
According to El Diario Juarez, the potential case was reported at a private local hospital.
Valenzuela told ABC-7 there are no confirmed cases in Juarez. However, he said the chances of seeing more potential cases in state of Chihuahua is inevitable.
"We know were likely going to see cases in Juarez or in Chihuahua," Valenzuela said. "We are aware of that. It's just a matter of time. The strategy that we'll use, here in the country, is to investigate and wait until we get the cases back with their results."
El Diario also reported the state had already investigated a possible case from a factory worker, however it turned out to be a severe case of the flu.
Health officials were expected to receive the results by Monday or Tuesday.
So far, there have been four confirmed cases of coronavirus in Mexico.
