Doña Ana County virus cases surpass 200 as New Mexico surges
SANTA FE, New Mexico — New Mexico health officials said Friday that another 181 coronavirus cases have been confirmed, pushing the statewide total to 4,673.
Officials said eight of those new cases were in Doña Ana County, putting the county past a milestone at 206 total.
Nine additional deaths statewide were also reported Friday. That included five patients in McKinley County, a rural area in western New Mexico that accounts for nearly one-third of the state’s cases.
McKinley County's most populous city, Gallup, is under a lockdown aimed to curbing the spread.
There remains just two deaths in Doña Ana County, both of which occurred previously during the pandemic.
