to work on extending the track from our round the clock news team– one person is taken to the hospital this morning after a crash that causes a car to catch on fire. plus– some el paso city council members want the el paso trolly project to include routes to juarez. “i got about four minutes las debate – i’m gonna get my question right now.” and –hot topics tackled at last night’s republican presidential debate–we have some of the most notable fireworks between candidates. today—america honors the men and women who have served in its armed forces. the holiday dates back to november 11, 19-18: the official end of world war two. originally called armistice day in 19-19, the name was eventually changed to include all veterans. this is video from the annual veterans day wreath laying this work week and the weekend ahead coming up in your full forecast. now to round the clock news coverage– one car caugth fire and one person was taken to the hospital after 2 cars crashed in east el paso . it happened near the intersection of joe battle and pellicano just after midnight. police did not release any details on how it happened just that a jeep and a truck were involved. the jeep was the vehicle that caught fire. one person was taken to del sol medical center with minor injuries. the intersection was shut down but is now open for your commute this morning. / on this veterans day– there are some closures to remind you about. all federal offices are closed. el paso county government offices will be closed but some city government offices will be open. most banks and credit unions will be closed but you should check with your financial institution. also… all u.s. post office locations will be closed. we also would like to add that schools in the el paso , ysleta , gadsen, and clint school districts, as well as las cruces public schools are closed today in rembrance of veteran’s day also. for a full list of closures… check out kvia-dot-com. / as we’ve reported– trolleys are making a return to downtown. construction is set to begin in january… one city council representative suggests speeding things up extending some of the routes. good morning el paso’s denise olivas is live with the details…denise i’m standing along part of the trolley route in downtown el paso. when it’s c omplete– one of the routes includes a continuation into juarez. but before that– a route to the medical center of americas was supposed to be done first. that could change though… city rep cortney niland says she wants to push for the juarez route before anything else. “going back…it’s time to go back” city rep emma acosta– who represents the medical center of americas said she had no problem with completing the trolley routes to juarez first. the 97-million dollar project is expected to be complete in 2018. now to the race for 2016 … the republican presidential debate is over…. showing the differing of opinions between the 8 white house hopefuls who made it to the main stage. abc’s stephanie ramos ha the details. it’s your voice, your vote. nats: candidates walking in..or introductions…etc the top eight- polling republicans in milwaukee debating –for the sot cruz : there are more words in the irs code than there are in the bible. and not one of them is as good. candidates addressing the minimum wage.. donald trump says “no” to raising it… ben cars changing his mind after supporting the raise at an earlier debate. sot – ben carson / presidential candidate “every time we raise the minimum wage, the number of jobless people increases.” carson also makin light of this past week of scrutiny over his life stories… sot – ben carson / presidential candidate “thank for not asking what i said in 10th grade. i appreciate that. ” the exchanges … though..heating up over immigration.. jeb bush and john kasich challenging trump’s plan to deport 11 million undocumented immigrants. sot – gov. john kasich / presidential candidate “we al know you can’t pick them up and ship them back across the border.” sot trump: i don’t hav to hear from this man trump also unleashing on carly fiorina when she interrupted senator rand paul… sot – carly fiorina / presidential candidate “. h walked away. he quit talking when it was time to quit talking… sot – sen. rand paul / presidential candidate “can i finish my time?” so – donald trump / presidential candidate “why doe she keep interrupting everybody?? each candidate trying to get as much air-time ? to prove how they would make america better moderators –for the most part –sticking to policy has some analysts saying that shift led to a boring debate. sr abc news washignton a grand jury has indicted some the people who were arrested following that deadly biker shooting back in may. the grand jury indicted 106 out of the 177 bikers for engaging in criminal activity. law enforcement agencies are still working on additional cases to the shootout where 9 people died and 20 others were injured. mclennan county district attorney said quote–“we are no done. we still have a lot of work to do and will continue to do that.” now to an abc-7 update on the joel garcia intoxicated manslaughter trial. he will stay behind bars … at least for now. garcia allegedly drove drunk last christmas eve and crashed into a car with two brothers and one of their girlfriends inside. all three were killed. garcia was in court tuesday morning and yet again, he doesn’t know if or when the judge will allow him to bond out of jail prior to his trial. the judge is waiting on evidence related to the blood taken from garcia the night of the crash. this is video from a pervious bond hearing. also …on monday garcia was sentenced to one year in prison for a previous d-w-i arrest that took place 8 months prior to the deadly crash. and now to another update from the county courthouse— closing arguments in the sentencing phase will begin tomorrow for the case against luis castruita. castruita was convicted last week of killing a man near the cincinnati entertainment area in west el paso. castruita shot efren gonzalez in march last year. / el paso police say the woman accused of crashing into an 18-wheeler, that sparked that six car pile-up last week… is doing better. simona fernandez- alacala is no longer in a coma… and as she recovers at the hospital… a memorial service was held for her 14-year-old son yesterday afternoon. diego fernandez was a student at canutillo middle school in west el paso county. that’s where his friends and teachers gave him one final goodbye. they all wore a black soccer shirt with diego’s number on them. the school even retired the number seven jersey … handing it to diego’s older brother. then,the students also held a balloon release with written messages to diego. sot: guadalupe fernandez- oldest brother “as a brother he was awesome. he would fight with my young brother but he would say sorry afterwards. he was very loving with my parents with my brothers with his pets…he was a great kid” diego’s brother says his his dad is also “physically” doi ok… now it’s time to take a look at the tx-dot traffic cams… we still have much more to
