members to the county hospital district board … filling all the recent vacancies and getting it ready to tackle some big issues. abc-7’s andrew j. polk was at commissioners court. and is live with the details. andrew? rick and estela, commissioners unanimously approved the appointments of steven anderson and henry gallardo to the board… which oversees university medical center and its subsidiary, el paso children’s hospital. anderson is an el paso attorney who has also served as a justice of the peace and municipal court judge… he has been on multiple non- profit and agency boards of directors. anderson was in the courtroom to speak to commissioners about the work ahead… which includes big adjustments with el paso children’s and the hiring of a new c-e-o for u-m-c in the near future. “it’s an honor to serve. and as i stand here on the tiptoe of expectancy, i’m going to roll up my sleeves and work. and i appreciate the opportunity.” henry gallardo was not able to be at commissioner’s court for the appointment… but he did send a statement saying in part quote: “i am humbled and look forward to working with such a qualified group of board members.” gallardo will be replacing umc board member and former chair tracy yellen april 18th. anderson’s appointment is effective immediately. commissioners are also working to tackle another complicated subject. coming up at 6, how they’re still trying to reduce costs at the jail. rick and estela?
