Ysleta Independent School District second district in El Paso county to give raises to teachers, administration

EL PASO, Texas - YISD has voted to give district staff a raise after approving a $501.8 million dollar budget for the 2022-2023 school year.

Ysleta ISD is the second district in the county to allot raises for its teachers and staff after Socorro ISD voted for similar raises Wednesday.

The new budget has allowed for a 5% raise for teachers, nurses, and librarians, and a 4% raise for administration. Additionally, hourly employees will receive a 6% raise. A $1,000 bonus is also being offered to all new full time employees who sign on. More specialized sign on bonuses are being offered to certain positions, with the largest being a $5,000 bonus to new special education teachers.

Superintendent Dr. Xavier De La Torre stated that the district "values [their] employees, and [they] are proud to provide these pay raises as [they] work towards greater heights and excellence in [their] programs and schools."
