A deep clean of Downtown El Paso is set to begin this morning
EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- Cleanup is set to begin in Segundo Barrio today near Sacred Heart Church. Only a few dozen migrants can be seen on the streets, compared to a couple of weeks ago we saw thousands.
The cleanup was announced at Monday’s council meeting by local emergency management.
The city is partnering with the downtown management district to clean up the alleyways around the shops & Sacred Heart Church following the influx of migrants in the area. The area will be power washed and deep cleaned to make the area sanitary for businesses and residents in the area.
The city says this will not cost local taxpayers and will be funded by the grant received from FEMA.
Cleanup starts at 8 am, and the city anticipates the process to take two days.
