Versailles Palace evacuated again in security scare with France on heightened alert against attacks

PARIS (AP) — The Palace of Versailles, one of France’s most visited tourist attractions, has reopened after being evacuated because of a security scare. It was the second time in four days that the palace had to close. Following a police inspection, the palace was cleared to reopen on Tuesday afternoon. France is on heightened alert against feared attacks after the fatal stabbing last week of a teacher in a school. The former royal palace’s account on X, formerly known as Twitter, said that for security reasons, it had evacuated visitors and closed its doors. The palace as well as the Louvre Museum in Paris were also evacuated on Saturday after receiving bomb threats.
