KVIA

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- The El Paso County's Healing Garden at Ascarate Park, a National Memorial, stands as a beacon of hope in honor of the lives lost and those who were deeply impacted on August 3, 2019.

As part of Phase II of the Healing Garden, El Paso County Judge Ricardo Samaniego, invited mural artists to submit their artwork for consideration with the requirement that the theme of the art promote healing, bi-nationality, and positivity.

A news conference will be held on Dec. 4 in the Commissioners Court Chambers of the Enrique Moreno County Courthouse at 12 p.m. to announce the five talented artists that were selected.

The mural will be placed on the south facing wall of the El Paso County Healing Garden.

“This project will promote unity and solidarity come the 5th Anniversary of August 3rd, 2024, when the mural is revealed,” said County Judge Ricardo Samaniego.

During the regular Commissioners Court meeting which starts at 9:30 a.m., Judge Samaniego will be reading a resolution in honor of the selected artists.
