3 migrants hurt trying to jump on moving train in Hudspeth County
SIERRA BLANCA, Texas -- Three migrants were injured after trying to jump on a moving Union Pacific Train in Hudspeth County on Wednesday, authorities said.
It happened along some railroad tracks near Interstate 10 just outside of Sierra Blanca.
Two of the hurt migrants were citizens of El Salvador and the third was a Mexican citizen.
While the trio all suffered minor injuries, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials warned there is a potential for serious injury by climbing on train cars not designed to hold people.
CBP said it appeared more migrants are now using trains to enter the U.S.
The agency said so far this year, it has removed nearly 300 undocumented immigrants from trains. That number represents an increase of more than 60 percent from this same time last year.
