Judge considering temporarily closing East El Paso club Chicas Locas

Update: During the hearing, the judge has been considering ruling on a temporary restraining order for 30 days.

The defense argued that there was no ground to keep the business closed, and requested the cease and desist order be lifted during the 30-day continuance period.

The defense argued that the business is not a "strip club" and specified that all employees wear a certain level of clothing so that they are not nude.

The next hearing is scheduled for November 25, 2024.

Update: In court, officials discussed the fact that the city issued a cease and desist order just before Chicas Loca's grand opening last month.

The defense is requesting a 30-day continuance as the County submitted new evidence today, just before the trial. The defense says it needs more time to review the new evidence.

The judge is considering taking a recess in order to review the case.

The County wants the club to remain closed, arguing the business has not complied with the agreement that shut down Jaguars back in March.

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- There will be a Temporary Injunction Hearing in the civil lawsuit against Chicas Locas at 1:30 PM today in the 41st District Court.

Jaguars Gold Club, an east El Paso strip club, was shut down earlier this year due to a number of alleged violations. Chicas Locas planned to open in the same building Jaguars had operated in in the months afterward.

On September 19th, just one day after the Chicas Locas hosted its grand opening, El Paso County filed a lawsuit against Jaguars, stating that they violated the settlement agreed upon in March 2024.

The lawsuit contains multiple allegations against Jaguars, including fire code violations. ABC-7 obtained documents from the Fire Prevention Division about failed inspections from the past 2 years.
