Loretto Academy seniors surprised in their pajamas on morning of would-be graduation

EL PASO, Texas -- It was a warm morning as Loretto Academy administrators put together a special surprise for all the senior girls after graduation was canceled due to Covid-19.

The academy made yard signs and goody bags for all 78 graduating girls and drove to their houses to deliver them on Sunday.

"It makes me feel loved, remembered, cherished," said senior and student body president Rebecca Terrazas.

Sunday would have been the girls' graduation day, but the pandemic caused the girls to miss out on all the senior traditions.

"We are so thrilled that our girls did so well and we are just trying to make up for some of the loses," said Loretto President Sister Buffy Boesen.

Though these girls won't get a traditional graduation, they are planning on remembering the good things that came from it.

"I'm going to remember the good times that we had despite the global pandemic and how we stayed close and faithful as an entire community," said senior Danna Pulido.

Loretto Academy plans on having an in-person graduation later in the year when it's safe.
